# Black Dyed Sculk

Black Dyed Sculk is a consumable type of shadow material used to gain [Void Essence](/allura/shadow-materials/intro-to-shadow-materials/void-essence.md) by sacrificing it to a [Void Altar](/allura/multi-block-structures/intro-to-multi-block-structures/void-altar.md).
